HP EliteBook 6930p Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

I just upgraded from Intel core 2 duo processor t6400 2.0ghz to Intel core 2 duo processor 2.8ghz. And i also wish I could upgrade the RAM memory from 4gb to 8gb. But,before i proceed on that,i would like to know the maximum ram limit for it,likewise the processor.

Hi:

I am running 2 x 4 GB of DDR2-6400 memory in my Elitebook 6930p.

That is the max memory supported.

A 4 GB DDR2-6400 memory chip is pretty expensive nowadays.

The best processor you can install would be the T9900.

See chapter 1 of the service manual for the list of supported processors.

Thank you so much,Paul... I really appreciate you....  I got a question left, i wanna ask about graphics now, why do I have Intel family chipset( WDDM 1.1) installed in my Elitebook 6930p(Intel chipset GM45/GM47). Why not ATI Radeon HD 3450, or mobile Intel GMA x4500 HD,as stated in the Manuel?

HP Recommended

You're very welcome.

The model name of the Intel graphics adapter is indeed the GMA x4500 but the Intel graphics driver just names it for the chipset.

The 6930p's came with either the onboard Intel graphics, or the discrete AMD 3450 graphics adapter, not both.

So the notebook will either show what yours does with the Intel graphics, or it will show the AMD HD 3450 in those notebooks that came with the AMD graphics instead.

All of my HP notebook and desktop PC's that come with the onboard Intel graphics adapters just show the onboard Intel graphics as the Intel HD graphics.  They all have model names such as HD 2500, HD 4400, etc.

My 6930p has the AMD graphics and the graphics driver that Windows installed is labeled accordingly.

I upgraded my notebook to W11 even though it doesn't meet the hardware requirements, and it works just fine.

Hello,Paul...  I will be glad,if you enlighten me on ;

Chipset Intel GM45/GM47 Rev 07

Southbridge Intel 82801IM (ICH9-M) Rev 03

That's the i see on my motherboard right now... Because I see some contrary info on the internet about this stuff.... I'm just confused right right..

Is it upgraded to 8gb of ram?

And does it supports pc2 6400 800mhz as well?

Hi:

As I wrote the other day, I upgraded my HP 6930p from 2 GB to 8 GB of DDR2-6400 memory.

You just need to read chapter 1, page 2 of the service manual which has the memory upgrade info.

You're very welcome.

Hopefully, you will be able to find some memory at a reasonable price.

2 x 4 GB of DDR 2 memory is usually fairly expensive.
