I bought this HP Elitebook 830 G10 in April. After months of faffing around, I eventually got the Brightness Hotkeys to work by installing sp155883.
Sadly, since Windows updated to 25H2, the brightness keys have stopped working again.
Reinstalling sp155883 and rebooting brings them back to life only for them to stop working again shortly thereafter.
Anybody got a fix for this?

I've spent the last couple of weeks talking to HP support about this issue and they have provided a solution:
Go to Settings, System, Display then press the down arrow in the Brightness box.
Set "Change Brightness automatically when lighting changes" to On.
Set "Change Brightness based on content" to Always.

Hi, thanks for your suggestion. That was kind of you to reply.
Unfortunately, the updated software that you suggested has not resolved the problem. As before, the brightness hotkeys work after a reboot following the installation of the hotkey software. but after the laptop is put to sleep on battery, on waking the brightness hotkeys do not respond properly. The brightness slider shows a very limited amount of movement but it has zero effect on screen brightness.
Does anyone have any other suggestions that I could try?

Some additional info: I've discovered that since installing the updated software suggested above that rebooting does restore the functionality of brightness hotkeys.
However putting it to sleep has the following effects:
if I wake the laptop from the sleep state before it goes into a deeper sleep, the brightness hotkeys continue to work as intended.
However, if I allow the laptop to remain in sleep long enough to go into a deeper sleep state, on waking there is no way to get the brightness keys to work short of rebooting. Restarting the HP Hotkey UWP Service in Services does not help.
Running Powercfg /a in CMD gives the following info:
The following sleep states are available on this system:
Standby (S0 Low Power Idle) Network Connected
Hibernate
Fast Startup
Any ideas on a possible fix or workaround?

I don't know, personally I've never put a computer into profound hibernation mode. I don't like it because they tend to malfunction, and I've seen this happen with every brand. Recommendation: use HPIA and check for updates.

Thank you for your reply. I'm grateful to you. I have installed the software you suggested and it shows that everything is up to date on my system but I'll continue to check regularly for updates in the hope that something resolves this issue.
I understand what you are saying about hibernation and I do not have it enabled on my laptop. The Standby state (S0 Low Power Idle) also known as Modern Standby, when on battery eventually puts the laptop into a deep sleep state similar to hibernation and it is on waking from this deep sleep state that I find the brightness hotkeys have malfunctioned.
I had another issue some months ago where, after a windows update, the laptop crashed when coming out of this deep sleep state and I tried another type of older standby that was still supported by the bios. It ended up being a failed experiment as it gave rise to problems with the screen not waking when coming out of standby so I'm not going to go down that path with this issue.
The workaround in that case was to avoid putting the laptop to sleep and use hibernation instead which was preferable to random windows crashes. That said, it was very annoying always having to wait to come out of hibernation. Eventually a Windows update resolved the issue properly and I was able to disable hibernation and resume using standby.
I'm hoping to find a better fix or workaround than hibernation for the brightness hotkey malfunction if anyone has any further thoughts?
