Help! My laptop wont turn on anymore. I have tried the hard reset by removing the battery, unplugging from wall and holding down power button for 30 seconds, but still wont power on.
There is 1 stick of 8gb ram, I have reseated it and tried it in the other bank but doesn't seem to help.
The battery doesn't seem to supply juice anymore, so I took it out while trying to fix this issue.
When plugging the laptop in to wall power, the power button light and caps lock light immediately turn on (without me pressing the power button) and the power button light flashes 6 times quickly, then just stays on. The little lights on the front of the computer: the left most light (white light, power I assume) is on steady, there is a yellow light right next to it that blinks slowly.
Nothing else works, the fan doesn't even come on.
Is there any hope?

Hello @husker3in4
This is an indication of a hardware problem. Most likely will require a service.
Please, check this article >> https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01732674
Try to identify how exactly it flashes/blinks, the pattern, is it 2-4 or 4-2, for example ?
If you are unsure, please capture a video clearly showing the problem, upload it somewhere and post back a URL to check.

Thanks for the reply. Upon checking it further, if the battery is installed, it wont turn on as I think the battery is dead. If I plug it in with the dead battery installed, the power button light flashes once, followed by 2 shorter flashes and then stays on the 3rd. If I plug it in without the dead battery installed, the power button light flashes once, followed by 4 shorter flashes then stays lit on the 5th.
Also, either the battery will not accept a charge anymore, or the charger is broken. Would either of these things cause the power button led to flash but the laptop not start up (even the fan is not spinning).
What could that mean?

Honestly, that's a bit strange pattern.
Would you mind taking a video (using a camera or smartphone) clearly showing how it blinks and what happens ?
Please, upload it to a cloud storage (like Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, etc) and share a link to view it.
Thanks.

Hey there, I have uploaded 3 files:
This is with the dead battery installed. Wont turn on (because battery is dead) but this happens as soon as I plug it in without hitting the power button: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Tp2k5WrkRzqZ2xPjrI1LuOzZ0MFsGkJK/view?usp=sharing
This is with no battery installed, this happens as soon as I plug it in without hitting the power button: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1VLT3LjT26ez4YCnSSVKQXGEQhw6QR5uY/view?usp=sharing
The lights on the front of the laptop flash the same no matter if dead battery is installed or not and obviously only flash once it is plugged in: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1WCnbiwl7_H8SZ4j_4vWlBMFlfl0cfuyW/view?usp=sharing
The expand on this, I have tried reseating the ram, swapping the 1 stick of ram to the other bank, reseating the SSD drive, swapping the SSD drive to another one I have, and plugging in an external monitor. None of these changes what happens. The other thing I noticed is that the CPU fan never turns on. Being that it is getting power to flash the lights but not enough to actually boot and run the fan, it makes me think its the motherboard. Could it just be the CMOS battery? I think this laptop has been dropped a couple of times.

Hi,
This is a hardware problem which cannot be fixed remotely. I recommend you check with a local authorized service partner about the repair options. You can see who they are in your region/state

Hey there, I got another motherboard online and changed it out. It still wont turn on with battery alone, and I suspect it wont hold a charge. When I plug the laptop in with the wall charger, it gives me a solid power button light, followed by 9 flashes now. If it isn't the motherboard, isn't the screen (I have tried plugging into an external monitor), isn't the ram or the HD, what else could it be? Would it do this if the wall charger was bad and not able to give it enough power?

Hello,
Please, reach to an authorized service center.
I cannot guarantee the motherboard you took online is suitable for your device, if everything has been assembled properly ,etc.
