Elitebook 845 G9

Hi,

usually, it is possible to activate a numeric keypad within the letters on laptops without a separate keypad. I'm referring to the one on the keys 789, uio, jkl ....

How is it possible with the EliteBook 845 G9? I can't find a NumLock key.

Thanks a lot !!!

Your hint about using Autohotkey to remap keys reminded me of Microsoft PowerToys. It contains several Windows tools, including the Keyboard Manager. With it, you can easily remap keys as NumPad with just a few clicks. A few minutes, and my problem was solved.

Hello exonero.

Yes, I have this on my Probook 640 G3. It also has a 14 inch screen and no separate keypad. The thing is, though, that it's mentioned in the manual and the user guide, and the numbers and symbols are depicted on those "keypad" keys along with the normal characters.

On the other hand, for your Elitebook 845 G9 none of this is true.....

With nothing mentioned in your manual, and nothing depicted on the actual keyboard......an external keypad is your only option.

Hi,

thanks for the information!

"That's really annoying.  Inserting ASCII characters using the the "alt + number" shortcuts only work with the number pad."

Inserting them differently is very inconvenient.

I see exonero. You're obviously right. When I encounter keyboard limitations, I use Autohotkey. You can program scripts to remap keyboard keys, and do pretty much anything. I suggest using the older version, because recently they've changed the program and the programming language, and that means you'll not be able to use all the (old) information already there. The link is on this older post of mine: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Software-and-How-To-Questions/Missing-Right-CTRL-key/m-p/8672...

I think you might also benefit by reading this old thread from the Dell Community.

Have a nice summer!
