Microsoft Windows 11

Hey,

we got this week our first HP Elitebook 860 G11 Notebooks.

I insantly realized that by using the official "HP USB-C to RJ45 Adapter"s, that the MAC Address Passthrough isnt working! The MAC being used is the one from the Adapter itself, and not from the System MAC.

This appears to be the case with only the Ethernet Adapter. Once i use a HP USB C Dock, the MAC Address Passthrough works.

I can confirm that this Adapter has working Passthrough with our 860 G9, but not with G11.

Is there a compatibility problem with the official HP Ethernet Adapter?! Is there any fix for this?

This is important for us because we use a NAC System where only specific MACs can communicate into our Network.

Thanks

Furkan

Hello.

It is likely your old USB-C adapter chipset is just not supported in newer computers models' BIOS.

Please take a look at the Quickspecs document of your 860 G11 laptop. The HP USB-C to RJ45 Adapter G2 is listed there. I would expect every dock and network adapter listed in the document to support HBMA. (=MAC passthru)

So it looks like you need to buy a new adapter.

Hey,

hopefully this isnt true. We have still dozens of Ethernet Adapters of HP of Gen 1. Making these not compatible with HPs new G11 would be so wasteful.

I have ordered a G2 and will update how it goes.
