Good Day Everyone!
I was hoping an HP employee was able to direct me to a solution for this issue that I am experiencing with out ProBook 455 G8... I have deployed 8 of them and so far I only see this problem on 2 laptops... 1 is deployed to a user where he doesn't shutdown his laptop afterwork and when he comes in morning this is what he gets on his laptop screen:
The 2nd laptop is one of our spare which I mimic what he does to his laptop (leaving the laptop On overnight) and this morning I got the same error...
Also one of the laptop has been sent for warranty and had a new main board installed on it for the same reason...
Thank in advance!

Hello,
We recently purchased (12) 455 G8 laptops, there is clearly a significant problem here.
Here is the process I used when these arrived
1. They showed up with Win10 Pro
2. Clean installed volume licensed Win10 Pro, 21H1 - (March 2022)
3. Windows updates automatically installed, including an unknown BIOS version (believed to be dated 12/31/21)
4. Manually updated BIOS to "01.08.20 Rev. A March 23, 2022" (sp138941.exe)
5. Enabled bitlocker, set BIOS Admin PW, turned off USB/NETWORK boot options.
Normally I update the BIOS before the clean install, but the HP support website was down basically an entire day last week preventing me from downloading the newest BIOS.
These (3) laptops are the only ones i've pulled of the (12) we received, and as you can see in the picture above, all 3 of them are having this problem. It occurs sometime after sitting idle - (hours)

Yep we are on the same boat... I've contacted HP and they recommend to do a clean install of Windows and I', suppose to get back to them if it happens again... Now I know where this is going as you already done that... Quick question, is your model is an intel or AMD Ryzen?

That sounds more like the HP Support person having no idea what the problem is, and are defaulting to "Well just reinstall the OS". As that person who posted a pic of multiple new units with the same problem, well, I'm pretty sure it's not Windows. There is an advisory for this issue. See https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c08191936
My guess is the firmware has a bug or compatibility issue with a recent Windows update.
Note that my laptops are on Windows 11 and are also having this problem. (The advisory says Windows 10). I don't use the factory OS since it's full of crapware. I do a clean install with the official Win11 downloaded installer from MS.

Thanks for that advisory link,
- Under "Affected Products" it doesn't list the ProBook 455 G8
- Under "Hardware platforms affected" it lists the ProBook 455 G8
- I guess this is how we know a fix hasn't been released for the ProBook 455 G8?
"This issue can occur when attempting to set a BIOS password, updating the system BIOS to the latest version, after PXE boot, or during SCCM setup."
I did both, updated the BIOS and set a BIOS password - although the "attempting" portion is odd, as i definitely successfully set the BIOS PW after the BIOS update.
Additionally strange is how the "SoftPaq Description" version #'s (on the advisory link) are the exact same (01.08.20 REV: A) as the latest-bios available that I installed for the ProBook 455 G8: HP ProBook 455 G8 Notebook PC (1Y9H1AV) Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Customer Support
This is a confusing mess, and I'm struggling with hints of a "fix coming" but unknown exactly when vs shipping these laptops back - I only have a certain window of time before they can be shipped back.

Thanks for the feedback.. I am currently working with them right now... It's weird right now they want me to collect some log files to be sent to level 2 support... Didn't know till now that they are aware of the issue as they have an advisory... Oh well I will play along to their process.. Better than waiting for them to release a BIOS update..

Can anyone confirm if removing the BIOS password and/or doing a BIOS reset after removing the password might clear this up?
Anything?
A laptop can be idle for a couple days before this problem decides to appear. In the latest instance this problem appeared on 2 laptops within a few minutes of each other after around 2 days of idle, and then hit the 3rd laptop about 4+ hours after that. Haven't been keeping track of their uptime down to the minute, but i can tell when they're dropping off by our wireless logs.
Would really rather not have to send all these laptops back.
