Same here. I have the i7 model with 16gb and 512ssd. The battery life is unfortunate, because i really like the laptop ... I have to decide to return or keep it ...

Hi, I just bought the HP Envy 3 2019 version and having the exact same issue, only getting 4 hours on battery saver and doing minor web browsing and document editing. I have not even transferred all my files or downloaded software etc yet and it is just draining.

What was it that resolved (work around) that you found best without running linux?

thank you!

I'm not really sure how and why it was fixed. I was running Manjaro for a long time and then I decided to reformat it and install Windows again. This time I didn't use the Home version that came licensed with the laptop but instead installed Windows 10 Pro and I was getting 5-6 hours of battery life.

Not sure what happened in recent months, whether it was an HP update or Windows update. I'm getting close to 8 hours now.

I've just spent nearly £700 on this laptop because it had an up to 16.5 hours battery life, i'm getting  up to 4 hours. I understand you never get the full "up to " quoted specs but it's a joke having only 4 hours!

  • Click the bottom-left Start button on the desktop, type device manager in the search box and tap Device Manager on the menu.
  • Once in device manager, click on the view tab in the top & choose “Show hidden devices”.
  • Then from the device manager list, check the entries under “Battery”  – Right-click and choose “uninstall” on all the entries.
  • Once all the entries are removed from battery, restart your PC.

The PC will reinstall the drivers automatically once you restart the PC. Then try charging the Notebook.

Hello,

I have the same issue with my laptop I have had this computer for maybe three years now and had to purchase a new laptop because of this issue. I have not opened it since around 6 months after I got it because the battery is so bad on it. Anytime I have it plugged in to charge I leave it for the night and then I would unplug it from the wall and even when I do not turn it on afterwards I have recently tried to go on it a day or two later and it wont even turn on because the battery is somehow dead even though it wasn't turned on since it was last charged. I turned it on tonight because I wanted to try to get something done about it and I charged it came back to it and turned it on and the battery said it was at 100%. I walked away for a few minutes and it was already at 92% and then while navigating to this website I checked again and it was at 89% so fast. So I had to plug it in because the batter was draining so fast. This is very upsetting because I use my laptop quite often and most of the times I am not in an area where I can plug it in so I cannot even take it with me which is the reason I stopped using it because it was very inconvenient to try and bring when I was constantly charging it. I spent a lot of money on this computer and do not want to pay to get it fixed when it has barely been used and is in excellent condition. I'm hoping you guys will do something about this because since this happened I have switched brands because this laptop was unreliable. I want to be able to use this computer again and that just is not possible with this battery dying that fast.  I would really like this to be solved as this should not be happening this fast.

I have the same problem with an envy 13 (2019). Was anyone able to solve this problem?

HP Recommended

I did solve it, though I don't know what the problem was. I just reinstalled Windows with a PRO license and it started lasting up to 7 hours.
