HP ENVY x360 15.6 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 15-es0000 (268U3AV)

Two months back I purchased a new HP Envy 15.6" i7 1255u with 2 TB SSD and 64 GB RAM. The purchase is from a third party seller on Amazon.  I used the laptop for the first month while plugged in but since last month when I started using the laptop on battery I immediately observed that the battery drains fast within a couple of hours of use it goes down to 25%. I am not sure if the 2TB SSD + 64 GB RAM configuration is original HP configuration or third party upgraded configuration. Something does not seem to be right. The HP website claims battery life of 6 hours and 30 minutes for the i7 1255U 2022 models.

Hi @pn2023,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The HP Envy laptop you mentioned with an Intel Core i7 1255u, 2 TB SSD, and 64 GB of RAM is a high-end laptop with powerful components. However, the battery life of a laptop can be affected by various factors, and a fast battery drain can be caused by several reasons. Here are some steps you can take to address the issue.

  • Power-Hungry Components: The powerful hardware in your laptop can consume a lot of power. The i7 1255u and a large amount of RAM can drain the battery quickly during heavy usage. Try to lower the power settings or use energy-saving modes when you're not performing demanding tasks.
  • Brightness Settings: High screen brightness can be a significant drain on the battery. Reduce the screen brightness when you're on battery power to extend battery life.
  • Background Applications: Check for background applications that might be using your CPU and GPU, which can increase power consumption. Close unnecessary applications and processes.
  • Battery Health: Over time, laptop batteries can degrade, reducing their capacity. You can check the health of your battery through the laptop's BIOS or with third-party software. If your battery health is significantly degraded, you may need to consider a replacement.
  • Software and Drivers: Make sure your operating system and drivers are up to date. Sometimes, software and driver issues can lead to excessive power consumption. Updating them can help resolve these issues.
  • Malware or Virus: Malware or viruses running in the background can consume resources and lead to a faster battery drain. Perform a full system scan using reputable antivirus software.
  • Battery Settings: Adjust your laptop's battery settings to optimize performance for longer battery life. You can typically access these settings through the control panel or power management options in your operating system.
  • External Peripherals: Disconnect any unnecessary external devices like USB drives, external hard drives, or peripherals, as they can draw power from your laptop.
  • Background Sync and Push Notifications: Disable or adjust the frequency of background sync and push notifications for apps and services that you don't need to be constantly updated.
  • Airplane Mode: If you're not using Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, turn on Airplane Mode to disable these wireless connections temporarily.
  • Battery Replacement: If your laptop's battery is old and severely degraded, you may need to consider replacing it.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
