I have been having this problem for a while, but only recently has it started doing it every single time I close the lid. When it started, it would only happen if I closed it and then carried it somewhere else. I started just shutting it down before I moved somewhere in case it was causing damage. Now when I close the lid it shuts down every time. It doesn't enter sleep mode, even if I have it plugged it in. I checked through my settings and everything is normal and says it should be going to sleep mode.

I would also like to mention that sometimes when it starts up, something that looks like the "advanced boot options" pops up. I wish I had a picture, but it always says press enter or esc to continue and I have usually just ignored it. Even rarer, sometimes the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI screen shows up. I don't press any buttons other than power.

Does anyone have a solution, or something I should be doing. Or- if I need to get a repair- any idea what the repair will be?
