Help please! I am so disappointed when I saw in the instructions that there is a large vent underneath the laptop, but also two (2) smaller vents on the top (where the keyboard is). I want (need) to operate the laptop computer as a desktop - by plugging in an external monitor, keyboard and mouse - as well as occasionally as a mobile laptop. I would like to close the display/top/screen 90% of the time and use this computer as a laptop during a minority of the time. That said, I have noticed that there are 2 vents "inside" and where the keyboard is. Can I use this laptop in the manner that I would like to? Or should I switch to another laptop brand/model/etc?
Please help as I have a limited return window.
Thanks so very much!!

It is not designed to work with the lid closed. I wouldn't block those vents
Hope this makes sense.
Regards.

Thank you for your prompt reply. I appreciate your help.
I understand from a Tech Support person at HP that their laptops are designed to operate with the lids closed, as many people use external monitors (for a variety of purposes, including gaming). They said it was okay to close the lid and operate the laptop.
Please provide further perspective. Clearly, I appreciate your position - hence I was/am asking the question. But your response implies that you should only operate the laptop in an "open position" - even if using an external monitor. I feel that the placements of the vents on top leads one to this conclusion. But, there is no warnings or anything to suggest that you must keep the lid open. I am wondering if the vents on top are for air flow "in" and that even with the lid closed, there is enough circulation. Please provide further thoughts.
