Hello all,
My two year old HP Envy laptop works well but drains its battery to nothing after a month or so of non-use. I only use it while on trips, but the Covid pandemic has curtailed all my trips, including business, family or otherwise. My problem is that I cannot remove the battery in this model like I had been able to in all previous laptops I have owned. I therefore cannot fully turn the system off. Questions:
- Is it bad for the battery and/or system if I leave it unplugged for long periods?
- Is it bad for the battery and/or system if I leave it plugged in but not booted up for long periods?
- How can I disconnect the battery to keep it from draining?
Thank you. If I had known of the non-removeable battery when I bought the system I probably would have chosen a different model. Other than that one feature, I like the system.

All Windows machines (Mac may be the same, I don't know) will drain battery when unplugged. Some machines would drain less than 1% per day, some would be 5% per day and worse machines would drain run up to 7% per day. For your concern, please use the following guide to keep battery healthy
