I have a G2 and a G5 at home. G2 is working fine with my Macbook 16 but not the G5 docking station. When My macbook is connected to the G5 Docking Station, everything works fine except the charging. The battery icon would should not charging and powered by power supply. Going into the System information shows me:
AC Charger Information:
Connected: Yes
ID: 0x0000
Wattage (W): 75
Family: 0xe000400a
Charging: No
I have tested the same Macbook on a 61W Apple charger. Even though the charging speed is really slow since Macbook 16 expects 91W charger, the computer should still charge and operate. But with the G5 docking station, there's no power input and the Macbook's battery keeps dropping.
The firmware has been updated to the latest one and the problem still occurs.
Please help! I really prefer the height of G5 to G2 and hope I can replace the G2..

Are they compatible ? I would not buy expensive devices from 2 different vendors or from cross platforms. The chance they are NOT compatible is very high.
Hope this makes sense.
Regards.

Hello
if you mean USB-C Dock G5 , you could try to update the firmware , using Windows 10.
