Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

my laptop was upgrading the bios to version F56A, and after a reboot it failed to boot and the screen does not turn on. No hardware changes have been made, and i tried recovery using a flash drive loaded with bios versions f53a and f56a, with no luck.

ive tried holding power for 15 secs, holding windows and V and B keys (one at a time per boot attempt) both didnt work. Holding the v key yields a reboot from the laptop upto 2 times while holding the combination of keys.

ive disassembled the laptop and taken out the cmos battery and put it back in to make one change to its boot behavior that is persistent across boot attempts: the key board led lighting can now be toggled at inital power on.

i am no stranger to boot issues however this is the hardest by far ive ever encountered and ive attempted multiple recovery attempts and methods. I am comfortable disassembling the unit if needed. I have a spare flash drive loaded with the factory restore software and bios f56a(can be changed to anything the hp website has on file for my laptop, i have another machine accessible.

the pc has not beeped, or had the screen turn on at all during this issue. When the bios was updating no issues were apparently present (ie power surge/cut off, failure, etc).

its been like this for 3 days now.

Ive tried the following:

i am desperate to get this working as it is a sentimental item for me, all attempts to help are appreciated. Thank you

Hi@Username_Omen,Welcome to the HP Support Community!

We reviewed your post and I understand that the  Notebook is not Powering ON,

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it helps

Do you see a light at the place where the charger connects to the laptop? If yes then it indicates that the charger is all fine.

I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:

  • Remove the battery out. If the battery is integrated and does not have a latch to release it then leave the battery inside the laptop.
  • Disconnected AC adapter from the laptop.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the battery and plug the AC adapter.

F6 + Power Button

  • CMOS Rest ( combination of windows button and letter 'V' then push the power button ones and release the windows and letter 'V' after 5sec

If the laptop does not power on then please continue with the below steps:

  • Disconnect the charger and remove the battery out.
  • Connect only the battery and check if the laptop powers on.
  • Likewise, remove the battery out (if removal battery ) and connect only the charger and check if that helps.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
