ProBook and EliteBook battery life?

Hi,

I work at a company that uses ProBooks and eliteBooks, as an example, HP ProBook X360 435 G8 is one of the types of laptops. I've run a powercfg/batteryreport.html.  I don't have the details in front of me. I'm at home.  But basically the laptops I've used, are 70 to 90 percent of full manufactured capacity, with 60 or less full cycles on the report. Yet, if I unplug the power cable, and leave them running on battery alone, running without going to sleep or shutdown or logging off the desktop, they last about 6 hours before they loose power. The batteries are still in warranty. Yet according to HP advertising, these types of laptops are suppose to last 17 hours.  Is this an issue with calibrating the batteries?  If calibration doesn't work, Is this a warranty issue even though  they're holding a charge technically? Personally, when I use my laptop at home, I always leave the power cable on. I use the battery power only like a battery backup if the house loses power, or If I need to be untethered to go to another room to show someone whats on the screen, or finding a new outlet.

Also, on average, how many cycles are considered excessive? I know what battery cycles are. At work, we use communal laptops. Online, I read something about a laptop battery, that had 200 cycles, the loss of battery life was noticeable, but the laptop and the battery can still be used. So what is the worse example of a high battery cycle. Obviously, if a battery doesn't hold a charge at all, and shuts down after unplugging, or swollen, and in warranty, we can get a free replacement. But what about a battery that lasts 6 or 7 hours untethered from a power cable?

No, They won't last for 17hrs. The best you can get is around 60% to 70% of a 100% FULL charger if you wish to claim warranty, please contact HP directly. This is a peer-to-peer forum.

Regards.

I like your response. But I'll keep this post open for a while longer. I work at a small company. I was thinking of complaining to management about the batteries. I was just curious to get people's experienced opinion about the reality of these types of laptop batteries.
