HP ProBook x360 435 G8 Notebook PC (28M90AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi all,

I own a Probook x360 435 G8 and a HP Pro Pen G1.  The pen worked fine with my device.
More than 2 years ago, the touchscreen stopped working and eventually the notebook had to be repaired (see https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Video-Display-and-Touch/Touch-screen-stopped-working-I2C-HID-...  ) and everything worked fine again.

The touchscreen is still working fine with my fingers. However, since more than 1.5 years I had not used the pen. A few weeks ago I tried, but then pen was not working anymore. I changed the battery of the pen and even bought a new pen. Still not working, so the notebook is definetly the cause of the issue. I am using windows 11.
I also tried booting a USB-Linux: Touchscreen working, but not the pen.
Also in BIOS: Touchscreen working, but not the pen.

Any ideas how to geht the Pen working again? Is this a hardware issue or a driver issue?
I also cannot find the digitizer-drivers for my probook on the hp website. For most other notebooks I can easily finde the drivers, but not for my probook. Maybe these drivers are missing?

I also tried to bluetooth pair the pen, but the pen does not show up in the list of bluetooth devices when I try to pair new devices.

Of course I have used the HP Support Assistant to update all drivers (System, BIOS, ...) but I cannot get the pen to work again.
I appreciate any help.

Best regards,
Harry

Update:
When I open the "HP Pen Settings" App in Windows, i get the message (translated from german)
"In order to use this app, the Wacom Pen Driver is neccessary" and a link to the following page:
https://us.wacom.com/en/feeldriver/?dlid=be8ac1

When I download the driver from this page and try to install it I get the following message (translated from german)
"No supported tablet was found on this device"
and the setup is aborted.

So what is going on here? Is this a hardware defect of the Wacom digitizer?

No ideas, anyone so far?

Using a pen is a fundamental feature of a convertible.
Everything else is working just fine on the notebook, but i would like to use the pen again.

I am searching for what stylus to buy for this same model laptop but, unfortunately no success could be seen. I've seen it's reviews and got to know pressure sensitive pen works with it. have you solicited it with hp support? If you ever did then request you to let me know too.

thanks for pointing out the issue now i won't buy gen 1

Hi, HardikSuri71.

No, you are getting this totally wrong.

The HP Pro Pen G1     IS the correct pen for this notebook!
In  my case it worked totally fine for two years but then stopped working due to a potential issue of the notebook but NOT the pen!

Again: The HP Pro Pen G1 is the pen you have to buy for your ProBook x360 435 G8. This is the correct one.

I am still looking for how to fix the issue that the pen-functionality of my notebook is not functioning anymore.
