HP ProBook 430 G5 Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello everyone, this is my first time here.

I have 2 laptops of the same model: HP ProBook 430 G5 2VP86EA

Few months ago I set a BIOS password for my 2 laptops.

For each laptop I choose different password and wrote it down on a note.

I usually only use one laptop, and the other laptop is in the closet.

Yesterday I took the laptop out of the closet to update it BIOS and install Windows 10 from scratch but I get a message that the BIOS password is incorrect and after 3 times I'm required to shut down the laptop and restart.

In the past I set BIOS restriction to update to other versions and also now I can't change BIOS settings if I need in the future.

I search in google and i read that HP can help me with sending me a file: smc.bin to unlock the BIOS password.

I'm really need your help to solve it, because I don't have money for replace parts.

thank you.

Hello @Lior-5584 .

*HP does not capture or retain any BIOS password data, so hp cannot retrieve your local BIOS password.
*HP can remove the password through a service on the laptop.
*You can contact HP technical support to set it up. Options vary by location and warranty status (a service charge may apply).
