HP ProBook 430 G5
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi all,

I'm interested in buying a HP ProBook 430 G5 for a colleague at work, however they need both an SSD & HDD drive. By default this model comes with a 512GB SSD and looking at the maintenance manual there is certainly the possibility for a 2.5" HDD to be installed, but I can't really make out from the exploded view whether the SSD & HDD live in the same physical location or adjacent to each other and use separate sockets.

Can someone please confirm one way or the other?

Thanks.

Shane

Hi,

Sorry, I did not explain my answer above (highlighted in cyan/blue). The configuration is by default that why on my later reply in wrote you have to buy hardare kit to install HDD or 2.5" SSD to install on the HDD bay.

Regards.

Hi,

The sreies has the following options for storage

1TB SATA (5400 rpm)
500 GB SATA (7200 rpm)
500 GB (8 GB cache) SATA SSHD (5400 rpm)
512 GB M.2 PCIe NVMe TLC SSD
256 GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD
128 GB M.2 SATA TLC SSD

Now you are saying the machine you bought has 512GB SSD, that means the 4th option above. You can check what it is using Device Manager.

There is NO option for Dual storage that means you have to install HDD yourself and you need Hard drive cover (Included in the Hard Drive Hardware Kit part # L01049-001).

Page 42 of the following manual shows you how

Thanks for that. When you say there is no option for dual storage, do you mean by default or full stop? It wasn't quite clear when you suggested the option of the hard drive kit, whether you could add the dual storage by adding this or not.

Thanks very much for the clarification. It's good to know that this model can have two drives. It's very hard to find a 13.3" notebook with dual drives. I've been searching very hard.

Hello Shane, have you succeded to install  the hdd unit on your probook 430 g5?

I'm planning to buy the same model, but with only 256gb sdd, I was wondering if I'll find in there the slot to place an hdd unit. If yes, which size? 2,5''? and this famous hard drive kit is it included inside the case or i need to buy it somewhere? in this case, where can I get it?

Thanks in advance for your answer
