Hello everyone, I would like to discuss a problem I am facing as a workstation engineer.

I have HP ProBook 450 G10 laptops and Dell monitors with integrated USB-C docking stations (Dell P2422HE).

The problem is as follows: When I connect the USB-C docking station to an HP ProBook 450 G10, it works correctly. The docking station monitor turns on, the second Dell monitor turns on (They are in Daisychaining mode), and the USB peripherals connected to the monitor station (keyboard, wired mouse) work correctly. The PC recognizes both external monitors, and everything functions properly.

However, when I turn off the computer and leave it connected to the monitors, the next day, when I open the laptop lid and press the "Power" button, nothing happens. If I disconnect the USB-C cable and press the power button, nothing happens. I am forced to hold down "ESC" + "Power" for 30 seconds, then press "Power" again to start the computer. When I reconnect it to the docking station, everything works again.

Does anyone know where this problem could be coming from? I should mention that this problem does not occur with another computer (tested with HP 440 G6 and Lenovo T480). Windows 11 and the drivers for the HP 450 G10 are up to date.

Thank you for your help !

Sounds like your HP computer and Dell dock are NOT compatible. I always say: Not ALL USB-C ports are the same. Please check Dell support to see any new firmware to update.

Regards.
