ProBook 650G8
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi all,

We're using the USB-C/A universal dock G2 docking stations at our offices.

Since last week, we're getting more and more reports from users using the Probook 650G8 models, saying they're monitors are no longer working (they keep turning on and off).

We tried upgrading the docking firmware, downloading the latest updates (both for Windows and for HP hardware) and trying other G2 docks too (same result).

Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

Thanks!

@Tom__S

There is list of compatible machines on the following document (page 38):

Do you use USB-A or USB-C to connect ?

Regards.

Thanks for the reply!

We are using USB-C to connect.

I notice the G8 600 series isn't in that list, if I'm not mistaking that model wasn't released when the G2 dock hit the market.

The thing is that this has been working perfectly for months now. The issues started within this last week.

We can't find any Windows updates that might have triggered this. Not sure if we can see HP updated something?

Hey guys,

Thanks for posting this, Tom!

I had the same problem last week with my own device (ProBook 450 G8) & Docking Station (G2).
Today I have more reports from employees who have the same problem.

... at another, same docking station, it worked. After that I unpacked a new docking station and the problem came up again. After running the HP Support Assistant and installing the Windows Updates (incl. optional), the problem still existed. I also uninstalled the USB driver and graphics driver of the docking station in the device manager. Only after I uninstalled the graphics driver from the notebook and "searched for modified hardware” in the device manager and after that the graphics driver was reinstalled automatically, it works after a restart.

Strange...

Hi Jeromebueh!

The problem should be fixed when you download the latest Display Link drivers from https://www.synaptics.com/products/displaylink-graphics/downloads/windows

@Jeromebueh

After you uninstalled the Graphics Driver from the notebook, did you reinstall the Drivers after detecting the "modified hardware"?

I have the same Problem, with my notebook at work and no one customer notebook.

Currently it only works without enabled updates on Windows Update and without the HP Support Assistent.

Thanks for the link @Tom__S!

@LKociN - The driver was installed automatically after searching for modified hardware (by right click) in the device manager.

Ok, and the notebooks still work after getting Updates from HP oder Windows? That problem starts after i getting Updates from HP, and later from Windows....

So, I re-enacted it for you, @LKociN; after installing the optional update “Intel Corporation Display 30. 0. 100. 9805” the problem occurred again.
After that I installed the latest Display Link driver, as suggested by @Tom__S.

Now it’s working again!
