HP Probook 850 g7: Charging via TB3 port

HP Recommended
Probook 850 G7
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello all,

I am thinking about buying a Thunderbolt 3 dock for my working from home setup. I have a HP Probook 850 G7 with a usb-c port that supports the Thunderbolt 3 protocol.

Will I be able to charge the laptop via this port, or does it only support data and video?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, as long as you use a compatible dock. The following dock (with 230W adapter) is compatible with your machine

You an use the 120W but this may not have enough power to drive more devices.

Regards.

Could you explain why I should use the 230W version over the 120W version? Both of the docks seem to be able to provide more than enough power, seeing the standard charger only provides 65W.
