My usb-c (female) to usb-a (male) adapter for my HP Reverb G2 died recently (I tested it on other things as well and nothing could go through it). When it died, I realised that I had a normal usb-c (male) to usb-a 3.2 gen 2 (male) 1 metre cable. So instead of buying a new usb-c (female) to usb-a (male) adapter, I used a usb-c (fmale) to usb-c (fmale) adapter that I also already had to see if this will work instead (so I don't have to buy another adapter).

This meant the usb-c cable from the Reverb plugs into the usb-c (fmale) to usb-c (fmale) adapter, which gets plugged into the usb-c (male) to usb-a 3.2 gen 2 (male) 1 metre cable, which gets plugged into my computer. For some reason this didn't work even though all the adapters and cables work (I tested it on other stuff), and it just came up with error 4-1, saying that I need to plug it into a 3.0 port (which I did, as it's the same port that I used to work with the now-dead adapter).

So I am wondering if anyone knows that the HP Reverb G2 can't transfer 3.0 speeds with all the adapters, because I will only buy a new usb-c (female) to usb-a (male) adapter if I am 100% sure this is the problem

Hi @Samuel0,

If your original USB-C to USB-A adapter for the HP Reverb G2 has stopped working and your alternative setup isn’t functioning as expected, here are a few things you can consider to troubleshoot or resolve the issue:

Check Compatibility and Performance

  1. USB Specifications:

    • Ensure that all adapters and cables used are compatible with USB 3.0 standards or higher to support the data and power needs of the HP Reverb G2.
  2. Cable Length and Quality:

    • Use high-quality cables and avoid excessive length, as longer cables can affect signal quality. The cable length of 1 meter should be fine, but ensure the USB-C (male) to USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 cable is certified for fast data transfer.
  3. USB Ports:

    • Make sure that the USB-A ports you are using support USB 3.0 or higher; otherwise, the headset might not get the required data transfer speeds or power.

Testing the Setup

  1. Test Connections:

    • Test each component (USB-C (female) to USB-C (female) adapter and USB-C to USB-A cable) individually with other devices to ensure they are functioning properly.
  2. Direct Connection:

    • If possible, try a direct USB-C connection without adapters (if your PC has USB-C ports that meet the headset's requirements).

Firmware and Driver Updates

  • Headset Drivers: Ensure the HP Reverb G2 drivers are up-to-date. You can find the latest drivers on the HP support website.

  • PC Updates: Ensure that your operating system, including USB drivers, is current to avoid compatibility issues.
