Product: HP Spectre x360 - 15-df0070nr

I have a HP Spectre x360.. Can someone help understand why my laptop's keyboard and mouse-pad appears to be bending. The laptop's plastic body cover is expanding apart from the bottom cover as if something in the inside is causing it to expand. As a result, I cannot close the laptop anymore without it damaging the screen because the keyboard & mouse-pad are no longer flat. 

 

Is this due to me leaving the battery charger constantly plugged in?

 

Please advise.. Thanks!
