Today, my HP Support Assistant started reporting the following error out of nowhere:
"The battery is reporting a failure and needs to be replaced as soon as possible. Your battery may be covered by your HP Warranty. Please contact HP.
9GF4XR-C3CC4U-MFGH61-C0BW23"
Advanced info shown:
- Cycle count: 5 / 1000
- Temperature: 38 °C
- Current: 0 mA
- Failure ID: 9GF4XR-C3CC4U-MFGH61-C0BW23
- Adaptive Battery Optimizer: Enabled/Not Activated
- Terminal Voltage: 12294 mV
- Design Voltage: 11580 mV
- AC Power: Yes
- Design Capacity: 51 WHr
- Full Charge Capacity: 49 WHr (95%)
- Remaining Capacity: 40 WHr
What is strange is that the laptop still runs fine on battery power, and when it does, the 'error' in HP Support Assistant disappears (a battery check returns 'normal'). Back on the docking station, the error returns.
So I'm wondering if this is a bug / false positive, or if I really need to go through the hassle of replacing the (almost new) battery?
