Hi,
I recently had some Problems with the HP Sure Start Recovery and my Laptop stucking in a loop.
It was causing the change of my motherboard a second time in approximately one year. I don't want it to happen again and so I'm wondering what can I do to prevent it.
The Problem presented itself those two times like this:
After a random automatic Update of Windows 11 I restarted my Laptop.
Sure Start complained that an attempt was being made to change the Secure Boot Keys. The only option it gives you is to press OK.
After pressing OK, the laptop restarts again.
After restarting Sure Start will complain that an attempt is being made to change the Secure Boot Keys. The only option it gives you is to press OK.
After pressing OK, the laptop restarts again. And so on. Like described in this Forum: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Business-Notebooks/BUG-Report-in-BIOS-HP-Sure-Start-Laptop-stuck-in-a-... - except from me doing anything on purpose
It's not possible to enter the BIOS Menu either. The only option that worked two times was changing the Motherboard. I don't want this to happen again. So I'm asking what should I do now?
I came up with three ideas:
1. Disable HP Secure Start — Doesn't seem right to do, because what I read Win 11 will make problems then.
2. Downgrade to Win10 – That's what one guy from the customer service said. But honestly I don't want to go back to Win10 and for me this only makes sense, when I deactivate Sure Start after and I don't really want to do this.
3. Is turning off the “Sure Start Secure Boot Keys Protection” a good solution? As I understand the issue right now, it's always caused by a change in the Boot Keys in some ways. When I disable the “Sure Start Secure Boot Keys Protection” in the BIOS Sure Start configuration, will I be safe from the Loop of death? Or does it only make my device more insecure and doesn't prevent me from any of this?
Happy for any advice, because right now I'm afraid to do any Update.
