HP Pro x360 435 13.3 inch G10 Notebook PC (71C26AV)

Hello,

I am experiencing a persistent update notification loop with an HP hardware update on Windows 11.

The system keeps pushing a settings notification: "Restart Required" for: "HP V80 System Firmware", as shown in the first picture ( it's in french, it means: 'Settings: Restart required. Your computer needs to be restarted to finish setting up this device: HP V80 System Firmware' ) (matching HP Firmware Driver Update 1.14.1.0 in my Windows Update driver history ( second and third pictures ) ).

Hardware informations:
- HP Pro x360 435 13.3 inch G10 Notebook PC
- Product ID: 8D4R5ES#ABE

--> More hardware informations:
General Technical Specifications:

Operating System: Windows 11 Pro 64-bit Version: 26200.9445
Motherboard: 8B50 KBC Version 54.38.00
System BIOS: V80 Ver. 01.13.01

Problem Details:
1. After I installed an update yesterday ( 10/09/2026 ), after it booted, it showed a notification as explained above. I checked Windows Update History and HP Support Assistant, and both marked the update status as "Successfully Installed". I did a reboot to the laptop as it asked.
2. However, every time the machine restarts to apply the change, the BIOS update progress screen flashes for a fraction of a second, abruptly disappears, and safely aborts back to a normal Windows boot environment, and pushes the same notification again.

Steps Already Attempted:
- Ensured the AC power adapter charger is plugged directly into a wall outlet during all reboots.
- Completely disabled BitLocker drive encryption to prevent any low-level flashing blocks.
- Rebooted the laptop multiple times, even shutting it down for a while and start it again.

- Checked HP support assistant app, and everything seemed fine there.

The system remains safe and stable on its current version, currently working normally, but it refuses to apply the BIOS update, the pre-boot cycle keeps pushing the notification in every reboot, and keeps flashing the BIOS screen during boot/reboot before booting normally. Please advise if there is a solution to that problem, so it stops flashing the BIOS screen progress in every boot, and applies the update.

Thank you!

Hi @Nini2027,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand that your HP Pro x360 435 13.3-inch G10 Notebook PC (8D4R5ES#ABE) is repeatedly attempting to install HP V80 System Firmware 1.14.1.0.

Since the system is currently stable, I would not recommend repeatedly forcing the firmware update or using third-party BIOS flashing tools.

Please try the following:

  1. Check the BIOS version directly in BIOS
    • Shut down the notebook.
    • Turn it on and press F10 repeatedly to enter BIOS Setup.
    • Confirm that the BIOS is still V80 01.13.01.

  2. Load BIOS defaults
    • In BIOS Setup, select Load Setup Defaults or press F9.
    • Confirm the change and then press F10 to save and exit.
    • Allow Windows to start normally.

  3. Check Windows Update again
    • Go to Settings > Windows Update > Update history.
    • Check whether HP Firmware Driver Update 1.14.1.0 is still listed as successfully installed.
    • If Windows continues offering the same firmware update, don't repeatedly restart just to retry it.

  4. Check the HP support page for your exact product number
    • HP's current support page for the Pro x360 435 G10 provides the available BIOS/software packages based on the selected operating system.
    • Use 8D4R5ES#ABE to make sure the firmware package matches your exact configuration.

Because the firmware update is being rejected during the pre-boot flashing stage, rather than Windows simply failing to download it, the next step depends on the exact firmware package being offered to your system.

Best regards,
Kuroi_Kenshi
