HP USB-C G5 Essential Dock
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi!  I recently purchased the HP USB-C Essential Dock to connect external monitors while also charging my laptop and it won't do either of these things.  I am still able to connect to and use my printer and scanner, charge my phone and connect to the internet via the ethernet cable plugged into the dock.  I am using an HP 255 G8 notebook PC.  I've downloaded all available drivers. Does anyone know I can solve these issues?

@Hudson4070

I tested my HP USB-C G5 dock on HP machines and machine from other vendor.

(a) HP Elitebook 840 G5 with Thunderbolt™ 3 port - PSU 65W
(b) HP Omen 15-dc0071tx with Thunderbolt™ 3 port - PSU 200W
(c) Dell Inspiron 2-in-1 13-7000 series with Thunderbolt™ 3 port - PSU 65W
(d) HP Envy x360 15-ee0047nr with USB-C 10Gbps with PD and DP 1.4 - PSU 65W

My monitors

(a) Asus 24" which has HDMI (2) and VGA inputs
(b) Dell 22" which has DVI and VGA inputs
(c) LG 24" which has HDMI, DVI and VGA inputs

Cables

(a) 2 cables (DP to HDMI) direct from the dock to Asus and LG monitors
(b) 1 cable (HDMI to DVI) direct from the dock to the Dell monitor

For monitors, I did not have any problem

I'm using it now on my HP Elitebook 840 G5 and I can say they are 99.9% compatible with SINGLE cable setup.

Hang on: Looks like your machine is NOT compatible with the dock, your machine is NOT on the compatible list

Hello

from H 255 G8 technical specification page at https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06955650

about  USB-C port:   (1) USB Type-C 3.2 Gen 1 (data transfer only)

(data transfer only) means no Power Delivary (so you can't charge the battery ) and without Videso Support (you can't use monitor connected to the USB-C Dock G5 Essential)

Bye.
