HP EliteBook 860 16 inch G10 Notebook PC (6V8W2AV)

When I try to open MS Word documents, or MS Excel spreadsheets, I get an error message that there was an error opening the file, that it's either read-only or corrupted.  This when I double-click on the file.  However when I open the MS Office app, and manually navigate to the file using the File -> Open menu command, the file does open - followed by a notification from HP Wolf Security:

So I don't object to HP Wolf opening the file "securely" (whatever that means), but if the security blocks me from opening the file with double-click - That's a problem.

Any insights appreciated - thank you.

I stumbled upon the solution to this - when the file has been protected/blocked by HP Wolf security you can right-click on it and select "remove protection".  It causes HP Wolf to do a security scan on the file and then unlocks it.

Hello.

Wolf is an optional HP security package aimed at Enterprise. You can try to update the Wolf security to the latest from your laptop downloads page. HP also has the https://support.hpwolf.com website where you may find helpful articles.

You can also just uninstall the Wolf package and rely on Microsoft Defender or some other 3rd party Antivirus software.
