HP ZBook 17 G5 Mobile Workstation
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi,

I purchased an HP ZBook 17 G5 Workstation from eBay earlier this year. It is fitted with the NVidia Quadro P2000 MXM GPU board.  I am running Windows 11 64-bit with the latest NVidia drivers upgraded through GeForce Experience.

I have it connected to my Pluggable Thunderbolt 3 docking station with 2 monitors. One monitor is connected directly to the HDMI port on the Dock. The other monitor is connected through a DP to HDMI adapter that was supplied by Pluggable.

When I connect a monitor to the dock using the DP to HDMI adapter, the monitor is recognized under the NVidia Control Panel and Windows Display Settings. However, the monitor itself does not receive any signal.

To rule out the possibility of this issue being caused by a faulty monitor, I have confirmed that my monitor works if I plug it directly into the HDMI port of the Dock. I connected a different monitor to the dock using the DP to HDMI adapter, and the same issue persists.

My next step was to determine whether this could be caused by a faulty docking station. To rule out this possibility, I connected a Dell XPS 15 (with NVidia Optimus) to the Dock, and both monitors function as intended.

This issue has been replicated regardless of whether the Graphics is set to Discrete, or Hybrid under the Built-in-Device option within the BIOS.

It seems strange that I am having this issue with this specific laptop. Before I purchased the ZBook 17 G5, I previously had a ZBook 15 G5. The Dock worked flawlessly with the ZBook 15 G5. It only seems to misbehave with the bigger 17 G5.

Another issue that I have observed is that the display that works through the Dock flashes repeatedly three times and then stabilizes when I initially connect the dock to the laptop.

Not sure what could be the cause behind this rather strange issue? The only work around I have implemented is to connect the second monitor through the laptop's built-in HDMI port, but that defeats the purpose of a dock where my intent is to consolidate all connections through a Thunderbolt 3 cable.

Thanks
