Hi,
I have a HP Z Book Fury G8 which is driving me completely insane. The fan is always on. Even if all windows are closed and no application is active, cpu is 1-2% the fans are throttling up and down. When I put the laptop into standby (modern standby/S0) the fans turn on and off constantly. How can I make this stop??
Also, S3 would be the perfect solution but this is not an option. When disabling Modern Standby, S3 seems to work looking at Powercfg, but resume from standby locks the laptop and it never fully boots anymore. I need to keep the power button pressed for 30 seconds to make it work again.

thanks for your help, really appreciate it. When disabling Modern Standby I see S3 reappear in powercfg /s. I disabled fast startup but this got me in thesame problem. It goes into S3 alright but does not come out. When I move the mouse that laptop goes on, fans on full speed but no screen output. I noticed the fan thrttling up and down twice but that's it. Waited couple of minutes. Had to press the power button for 30 seconds again.
Funny thing is that when booted I got my saved desktop with open browser.

Hi LarsVB.
Join the club. Intel has completely ripped out S3 from the "insides" of the Tiger Lake CPUs. OS doesn't matter. Use hibernate option like the rest of us, or disable any kind of suspend on your system........
Clarification on TigerLake S3 suspend support
