HP ZBook Studio 16 inch G10 Mobile Workstation PC IDS Base Model

Hello community,
after many problems with hp, I finally get my new notebook.
HP ZBook Studio 16 Zoll G10

Now I want to install my 2nd SSD driver but I can´t find the slot for it. In th videos they only show how to change the SSD.
Can somebody tell me were I find the slot or send me video how to find the slot? Thanks a lot.

Hello Schwimmer.

I was very intrigued by your question, because for some reason you're convinced that your system has more than ONE (1) slots for storage devices.... HP's "Removing & Replacing Parts" video for your system is pretty accurate, and your system has just the single m.2 slot that covers a small part of the battery when installed. I did however take a look at the available documentation and general info, in case there was something else we were missing.

The specifications sheet for your product does in fact tell a different story:

However, I'm pretty sure that this information is completely false, since it defies -both- the laws of mathematics and common sense. According to this doc, your system has 1 primary slot and 1 secondary slot, giving us  a total of FOUR (4) SSD slots!

Thankfully he rest of the documentation makes sense and  falls in line with the HP video:

The Quickspecs pdf confirms single storage.

The marketing brochures don't advertise any secondary storage or RAID config options (brochure1, brochure 2).

Finally, the manual has identical instructions when it comes to access to and installation of storage devices:

Even going outside official HP documentation, the information we get is exactly the same. On this Laptopmedia review of the ZBook Studio G10 we are informed of the existence of a single m.2 slot that has to be removed before the battery, and it is also mentioned as one of the drawbacks to getting this system.

This single-storage configuration for the ZBook Studio G10 was in fact "inherited" directly from its predecessor, the ZBook Studio G9 (as seen in this review by the Austrians at Notebookcheck), and is no big surprise since it's just a Raptor Lake refresh of the G9.

Schwimmer, you can't find the slot to install a second SSD, because this slot doesn't exist. I have to ask, where did you get the idea that this system has secondary storage?

Hello TzortzisG,

thank you very much for the detailed information.
I got the information for the second slot directly from HP Germany sales. I initially wanted to have the notebook equipped with a second SSD when I ordered it, but then changed my mind. Then I first contacted HP about the tenth SSD, they told me which SSD I could use, then I sent the notebook configuration to an official HP distributor and they confirmed the information and sold me the SSD.

But that fits in with everything else HP has messed up with this order.

Thank you for answering my question.

To be honest, other ZBook G10s (Power, Fury) have more than one storage slots. But I still don't understand how this mistake was made. It would have been really interesting to see what they would have done if you ordered it with a second SSD installed...... 🙁
