You are correct about the 150w, but thunderbolt/usb has a maximum of 100w for USB power delivery. That is way HP added the additional plug for systems that require more. This plug can transfer 150w like a normal charger and the power delivery option is not used. So in case you need more than 100w to charge your laptop, my setup will not work.
