I have been using Hp laptop for over an year now and my sister bought the same laptop after me. One day, one of her laptop hinge broke simply just by opening it. The customer center refused to help as they said the warranty does not cover hardware damage. She paid for fixing it although she had warranty. Few months later another hinge broke and she had to pay to fix that as well. I don't why the hinges are so weak that they break by just opening the laptop like how else am I going to use and it is going to break at some point. Today I opened my laptop and my laptop's hinge broke as well. It cannot be a coincidence that both of our laptops hinges broke although we bought them separately in different time frames from different retailers. This infact shows that Hp puts weak hinges on its laptops and doesn't fix them even during the warranty period. I have important documents and I cannot afford for the laptop to stop working. The laptop is great overall but hp laptops have this issue of hinges which is a big disadvantage. I don't know where to complain.
