I recently contacted HP support via the chat feature and eventually chatted with a live agent who referred me to a technical support person. I was called back on my phone and the technical support person, logged on my laptop, diagnosed the issue and fixed the corrupt driver. That's when things made me nervous. I agreed ahead of time to a $200 tech support charge. I was informed that Spyware corrupted my file. was pressured to upgrade to a HP Wolf VPN at a cost of $1000. I stated I could not afford the purchase and would pay the agreed upon $200 for their assistance. I was informed I could write a check. I asked to whom and where I would send the check. The rep informed me all I needed to do was to scan my check and they would handle. I refused and after a while, the rep hung up. Is this normal or did this end up being a scam after I was informed by the chat agent that I would receive a phone call from technical support. Any feedback is appreciated.
