Hi everyone

We use Wavlink docking station WL-UG69PD2 Pro which has a power pack of 100W, sometimes it does not charge the laptop and can only hold the power, and then randomly start charging again.

The most basic cable plug in to the dock are the either Display Port or HDMI connect to the 29 inch widescreen, then RJ45 to connect to internet. Other cable maybe plug in to USB mouse and keyboard. Some users might use it to charge their iPhone or the Poly focus 2, 5200 or free 60 headset.

I just want to know what sort of power setting is in HP optimized (Modern Standby)? I notice sometimes it hold the charge above 90% and it doesn't charge, and some people in other forum told me it could be in the wrong power settings which cause the laptop stop charging from the dock. There is no issue with the USB C port, as it charge straightaway when plug in to the laptop charger.

Thank you

I always say not ALL USB-C ports are the same. Your machine only needs 65W HP USB-C chargers. Sounds like 100W charger from other vendor won't work properly due to compatible issue.

It is much better to ask Wavlink. Even some HP USB-C docks may not work properly with your machine too.

Regards.

Hi BH

Thank you for your reply, but this is not a laptop, it is a docking station, so it makes sense that the power is larger than 65W, as it is need to able to charge the laptop as well as connect to the monitor + some other USB accessories.

A brand new docking station charge the laptop immediately, but after maybe 6 months, some of them start not charging but just holding the power, and then probably a year later it then don't charge the laptop but connect to the monitor

From other forum, someone mention the power setting also important, so I just wondering what power setting need to be set? Also I want to know does the 'Enable High Resolution mode when connected to a USB-C DP alt mode dock option' affect the charging from the docking station at all?

thank you
