Description of the Problem:

My HP ZBook Fury 15 G7 suddenly started running the fans at maximum speed even when the system is cool and idle. After checking the hardware temperatures, I discovered that one of the sensors is reporting an abnormal and incorrect value.

  • CPU and GPU temperatures are normal.

  • However, one temperature sensor shows an abnormal constant reading of 127°C.

  • Because of this false high temperature reading, the fans run at full speed all the time.

  • This issue appears to be caused by a faulty or damaged motherboard temperature sensor or a problem in the EC (Embedded Controller) reading the sensor.

@choukrii, Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the HP ZBook Fury 15 G7.

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution. We hope our assistance has been helpful!

If your HP ZBook Fury 15 G7 is running its fans at maximum speed even when the system is cool and idle, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

  1. BIOS Settings:

    • Ensure that the BIOS is up to date. You can check for updates on the HP Software and Driver Downloads page.
    • Check if the "Fan Always on While on AC Power" setting is enabled in the BIOS (F10 Settings\Advanced Tab\Built In Devices Menu). If this is enabled, the fans may run continuously to maintain a constant temperature. Consider disabling this setting if it is not necessary.
  2. Check Task Manager:

    • Open Task Manager and check for any background processes that may be utilizing CPU resources. Terminate unnecessary processes that might be causing increased fan activity.
  3. Update Software and Drivers:

    • Ensure all software, including Windows and HP drivers, are up to date. This can sometimes resolve issues related to fan control.
  4. Ventilation:

    • Make sure the laptop is placed on a hard, flat surface to prevent airflow obstruction.
    • Check and clean the air vents for any dust or debris that may block airflow.
  5. HP Performance Advisor:

    • Use HP Performance Advisor to help optimize system performance and manage power settings, and ensure it is configured correctly to your performance needs.

I hope this helps!

Take care and have an amazing day!
