HI, I recently got the HP G10 Notebook but noticed that the colours look washed out and kind of blend with the background. It looks like there is a white cast on the entire screen that just makes everything dull and difficult to see. I have already tried to reduce/increase brightness and played around with the nightlight too. I have done the calibration and still nothing works. I have seen suggestions for the Intel HP Graphics Control Panel or the NVIDIA control panel, but I don't have those options. Is there any other way I can fix this issue, because I just need the colours to be more vibrant and darker. I cannot find an option to just change the overall contrast anywhere

Hi, 'Saw a few posts re washed out colours/insufficient contrast on a number of HP laptops. Although the display screen on my new $3000 Elitebook is not as good as my old HP laptop (are you listening HP), there are a number of tweaks you can make so that the display is bearable. This feature may not be available on all HP laptops.
One of these is Settings-Accessibility-Color filters. Click Color settings to 'on', and select the top option (Red-Green, green weak). Then scroll down to Intensity and Color Boost and pump them way up.
Again, not as good as my previous HP (ahem, cough)

I had exactly the same issue. While I lurve the features/performance of the Elitebook, I am surprised that the machine comes with such a dull display. I am further suprised that more people don't complain about it. After many hours of fiddling/tweaking, there are other things you can try. Let me know how you go with the first suggestion. In the meantime, I will write to HP again, asking why a $3000 laptop does not have a simple contrast adjustement........sigh

You are right. There really is no in between. I have done the following (below). Individual display preferences aside, the fundamental issue is that purchasers should not have to dive deep down into the bowels of the laptop settings to make the display bearable on a $3000 machine. I know you have done some. Barring a HP software change, I can't think of anything else.
1) Search Adjust ClearType text . Go through the steps and select the type of text design/crispness that you wish to see.
2) Go to Settings>System>Display>Adaptive Colour. Switch Adaptive Colour to 'On'.
3)Settings-Accessibility-Color filters. Click Color settings to 'on', and select the top option (Red-Green, green weak). Then scroll down to Intensity and Color Boost and pump them way up.
It may be that you have to keep fiddling with the colour filers/settings until you find a combo that you can live with. In the meantime, I will keep pestering HP.......

I had another discovery. To adjust the contrast (depending you have either Nvidia or AMD), go to your Desktop page and right click. In my case (AMD), it gave me access to the AMD software. Once the AMD software is open, it gives you a number of options at the top left of the page. One of these is 'Display'. On the right hand side of the Display page, there are a number of settings that you adjust by slider. At the bottom right, disable Colour Deficiency Correction. I know this sounds counter-intuitive. After that, play with the sliders. My screen is now a lot crisper!
