Hello ,

I have a hp zbook g7 power 2 years old. For a while now the laptop suddenly freezes the screen when in use . Sometimes it will become green, other times just freezes what im doing. Cant acces anything and a remote screen does via hdmi cant be accessed as well.

I have tried replacing the panel ( pretty easy to do ) but now it immediately gets a green screen. Panel is not damaged .

Maybe the ribbon ?

Any one have thoughts as to what this can be?

Hello.

Strange display problems such as you describe can be caused by a faulty display cable, so yes, I would check it as well. Try keeping the laptop on while you have access to the cable and try manipulating it (within reason!) this way and that to produce the problem.

Run a full memory diagnostic with HP UEFI Diagnostics. (or memtest86+ or similar)

Does the problem manifest itself if you only work with HDMI, with the laptop lid closed or internal display disabled?

If your external HDMI display stops working as well, the problem isn't likely in the laptop panel or its cable, but within the System board where the GPU is embedded. The GPU is non-replaceable, you would need to replace the whole board.

Before ordering this expensive part - I presume you don't have warranty - I would recommend taking the laptop to a HP authorized service partner and have them quote the part and labor.
