Product: EliteBook 840 G4
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have EliteBook 840 G4, currently i am using DP and VGA for my 2 monitors. I would like to retire my old VGA monitor and get a new one which only has HDMI port. Does the USB Type C support video output? Can i use the USB Type C to HDMI cables sold online?

Hello

 

no , USB-C port on 840 G4 just have USB signals. no video support. no battery charge. 

At the port you can conect USB Key, mouse, keyboard , HArd disk, liek a standard USB-A port but with USB-C connector.
