HP ZBOOK 16" G11 Fury
Microsoft Windows 11

My HP Zbook 16" G11 Fury comes with 4 sodimm slots, and already has 32 GB of RAM (2x16 GB DDR5-5600 MT/s). I am planning on purchasing 2x32 GB DDR5-5600 MT/s (same make and model), to increase the RAM. Is it possible to run 2x32 plus 2x16 (all the same make and speed) in full dual channel mode? In the technical specs of the laptop, it says in the footnotes that:

"Maximized dual-channel performance requires SODIMMs of the same size and speed in both memory channels"

and

"Intel® allows architectures designed with four DIMM slots to run up to 4000 MT/s."

Reading the first footnote where it says "same size in both channels" makes me wonder, if I can achieve maximized dual channel performance using 2x32 + 2x16.

The second footnotes makes me wonder if I can still achieve 5600 MT/s using those 4 modules? Why does it need to mention DIMM slots, where the laptop only uses SODIMMS??!

Appreciate any feedback!

Hi AndyB30.

Available documentation for this system is as follows:

Manual, Quickspecs PDF, Brochure.

Unfortunately there's not a lot of information about this on any of these documents. The workstation's previous generation has more details on the subject on its Quickspecs PDF (ZBook Fury G10).

Also see this post on a discussion about the recent ZBook Fury systems: HP ZBook Fury G9/G10/G11 (NotebookTalk).

According to all this information I posted above, if installing 4 modules they have to be same size and rank (preferably single rank). Maximum speed will be 4000 no matter what.

* SO-DIMM is small outline DIMM -still a DIMM.
