HP EliteBook 840 G11

Hello All,

It is my first post here then welcome Everyone. If I picked wrong category please move this thread.

I have brand new EB 840 G11 ( Windows 11) and all works fine except secondary screen. Laptop is connected to new  HP USB-C G5 dock. to this docking station is connected new screen HP  E24 G4. Problem is that laptop loosing connection to this screen ( it just goes black) several times a day for 5-10 seconds. Before I changed old user laptop from HP EB 745 G6 all was working fine, no issue with any connectivity after I replaced laptop to G11 model  problem started. I did below actions on new laptop so far

1. Updated all drivers and firmware to latest versions

2. Installed all Windows patches

3. press and hold power button for around 1 minutes to reset laptop settings

4. I changed docking station to another G5 on which I was working without issues with my G10 model. Docking station which I took from user I connected on my desk and there is no issue with it at all

Any other suggestion is welcome as this problem exist from last 2 months and with any newer updates it still exist.

Kind regards

Hello.

1. Updated all drivers and firmware to latest versions

Did you also update the dock firmware?

Are you using Displayport, HDMI and/or some sort of adapter between dock and monitor?

Have you tried changing the type between DP/HDMI?

Does the monitor work if you connect it directly to laptop with same video cable?

Are you powering the dock with the power supply that came with the dock?

Hi Jupitero,

thank you for your reply. I run HP assistant to get all updates and whatever it found was installed, then I think docking station firmware too. I'm using HDMI on user desk, but I can switch it to DP and let you know if anything changed. there is no adapter just laptop to docking station where screen is connected with HDMI. Yes monitor work without issue when it is connected directly to the laptop. Yes, docking station is powered with charger delivered with it. Like I mentioned before everything is brand new - screen, cables, docking station, laptop. Everything was working fine until I replace laptop for user from G6 to G11

Kind regards
