Elite usb-c dock
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a Pro X2 612 G2 connected via an Elite usb-c dock to an HP Z34c monitor and everything appears to work properly with the exception that the resolution on the Z34c is limited to 2560x1440.  The Z34c has a native resolution of 3440x1440, so I'm clearly not getting full function out of this setup.

After some basic research, it appears that the Elite usb-c dock may be the limiting factor, but it also appears that many 3rd party docks may not be compatible with charging power requirements of the Pro X2 computer.

Is there a solution to enable my current setup to reach its full resolution capability?

If not, is there another usb-c dock that will provide full resolution video (HDMI and/or DisplayPort), Gbit Ethernet, USB  ports, and power compatible with the Pro X2?

Thanks in advance

Hello

it depend of the product Number of your Elite USB-C Dock.

if you have the Z9R42AA , there is a button , called High Resolution Button.

Such Docking supports:

Single display: up to 4096x2160 @ 60Hz , you need to enable High Resolution

Dual display: up to 2560x1600 @ 60Hz

Triple display: up to 1920x1200 @ 60Hz

this Z9R42AA deosn't require an additional video driver as the DisplayPort Signal arrives directly to the docking.

If you have the other X7W54AA/UT/AT , in this case you need a DisplayLink driver and it doesn't support a 4k display like to Z34c at full resolution.

so the question for you is : which Elite USB-C docking  model you have ?

Bye

Thanks, after some digging, it does appear that I have the X7W54AA dock.  The Z9R42AA appears to be out of stock on the HP site and several other common vendors.  I'll do some looking around to see if I can locate one.

If I'm unsuccessful, is there a 3rd party product that can do the job (video, lan, usb ports, power)?

I would recommend you continue your search for the Z9R42AA.  This dock was released with the 612 x2 G2 in mind.  It allows you to properly charge your unit while at the same time taking full advantage of the ports on the dock.  Keep checking the HP site because I know we are doing our very best to make these available.

Hello

USB-C is not like USB 3.0/2.0. Avoid to use not certified products . one of the main reason if for the power supplyed to teh tablet.

if you find a USB-C dock that is not prejected in the right way following the USB-C standards, it could provides wrong voltage to the tablet and burn the motherboard.

USB-C power supplies may provide different volatages;  5 , 9 , 12 ,15 ,20 if the negotiation , between tablet and a not certified devices that supply also the power, goes wrong , the tablet may get an higher voltage and get damaged.

So stay on HP certified Docking.

bye
