EliteBook 2170p
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The machine is complaining about ME being in recovery state. I therefore updated BIOS to latest version, then attempted to flash latest ME FW provided by HP, however, keep getting Error 8771 : invalid file both in windows and when trying to flash via dos.

Did you even look to see what the new bios fixes ? Seems like HP & Dell users always update bios for everything. Then they wonder why their computers stop working. Bios is the LAST thing you should even THINK about.  I noticed this the first time I logged into their forums.

Sorry, I do not know what ME is.

I have the same issue on a Probook 470 G2. Updated BIOS, Drivers etc. Tried Windows 8.1 as well as Windows 10.

Seems to me that some Update of Windows/HP broke the Management Engine.

Please let me know if you find any solution for this!
