Hi. Silly question on the model # definitions / references.  I've searched but didn't find an answer in the forums.  What are the DIGIT meanings in the EliteBook / ProBook series model numbers?

For example, 840 vs. 440 vs. 655?

We've figured out:

- SECOND digit refers to screen size (4=14", 5=15.6")

- THIRD digit refers to processor (0=Intel, 5=AMD)

But we don't know what the FIRST digit refers to ... 4 / 6 / 8.  Can anyone shed some light on that?  We're deciding which models to purchase and aren't sure of the differences between the 400 / 600 / 800 series.

Thanks!

Hi:

The first digit is the model series.

Look at it this way...Good, Better, Best.

The Probook models start with a 4 or 6.

Probook 4xx Good

Probook 6xx Better

The Elitebook models start with a 7 or 8.

Elitebook 7 or 8 Best

Each model variation offers more features, and you can compare those in the specifications for any model that you are interested in buying.

Thanks for the answer!   We were thinking it was more part specific like the other two digits, but your info helps!

Have a great day!
