Hi HP Support,
I’ve been using the HP EliteBook 1040 G10, and since day one, I’ve had a really bad experience with the display. The colors looked pale and weird, text was not sharp, and icons (especially near the taskbar) were blurry. It honestly didn’t feel like I was using a premium laptop. I tried everything – adjusting settings, brightness, ClearType, reinstalling Windows, even installing an ICC profile I paid for – but nothing helped.
Then just recently, I tried updating the Intel graphics driver manually from Intel’s own website, not from HP Support Assistant. And I couldn’t believe the difference. Everything suddenly looked so much better, icons are crisp, colors are way more natural, the text is clear, and the whole display finally looks like a high-end panel.
This makes me think the driver that HP provides through Support Assistant is either outdated or broken. It was ruining the whole display experience.
So I wanted to let you know clearly:
- The HP-provided Intel graphics driver gave me a blurry, bad display
- The official Intel driver fixed everything completely
- I think HP should update or remove the current display driver in Support Assistant, it's honestly not acceptable on a flagship laptop
Please forward this to the team responsible for drivers. I know I’m not the only one with this issue, and others probably just think the screen is bad, when it's actually the software.
