Hi @Pranav_1920,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Random restarts on a laptop like the HP ENVY x360 15 Convertible PC can be caused by various hardware or software issues. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the problem:

Check for Overheating: Overheating can lead to random restarts. Ensure that the laptop's vents are clean and unobstructed. You can use compressed air to blow out dust from the vents. Consider using a cooling pad to help with temperature regulation.

Update Drivers: Outdated or incompatible drivers can cause stability issues. Visit HP's official website and download the latest drivers for your laptop, especially graphics and chipset drivers.

Windows Updates: Make sure your Windows operating system is up to date. Sometimes, system updates can address stability issues.

Check for Malware: Run a full system scan using a reputable antivirus and antimalware software. Malware can cause unexpected system behavior.

Check for Memory Issues:

  • Run a Windows Memory Diagnostic to check for RAM problems.
  • Consider reseating or replacing RAM sticks if you suspect a hardware issue.

Check for Disk Errors: Run a disk check utility to scan for and repair any potential disk errors.

  • Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run: chkdsk /f

Hardware Tests: Most HP laptops have built-in diagnostics. You can access these by pressing the F2 key during startup (or another key specified by your laptop's manual). Run a comprehensive hardware test to check for any hardware issues.

Disable Automatic Restart: To get a better idea of what's causing the restarts, disable automatic restart on system failure. This will allow you to see any error messages or blue screen information.

  • Right-click on "This PC" (or "My Computer") and select "Properties."
  • Click on "Advanced system settings."
  • Under the "Advanced" tab, click on "Settings" under "Startup and Recovery."
  • Uncheck the box that says "Automatically restart."

Event Viewer: Check the Windows Event Viewer for error messages or warnings that might point to the cause of the restarts. Look for patterns or specific error codes.

Software Conflicts: Sometimes, third-party software can cause instability. Try to identify any newly installed software or updates that coincide with the restart issue. Uninstall or roll back those changes if possible.

Power Settings: Make sure your power settings are not causing the laptop to shut down unexpectedly. Go to Power & Sleep settings and ensure your settings are appropriate.

BIOS Update: Check if there's a BIOS update available for your laptop model on HP's website. BIOS updates can sometimes resolve hardware-related issues.

System Restore: If the problem started recently and you're not sure what caused it, you can try a System Restore to revert your system to a previous stable state.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
