The keyboard on my laptop has suddenly stopped working. It worked perfectly this morning but when I opened it again this afternoon, suddenly none of the keys worked. Ive restarted it multiple times and nothing has changed. I've tried an online keyboard tester, the trackpad still works perfectly fine but none of the keys do anything. When I mute the sound on my laptop, the light still shows up on the mute key as it should and same with the caps lock. I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling and updating the drivers, pressing different keys that Google says should unlock the keyboard, going into settings etc. The keyboard troubleshooter isn't registering that anything is wrong. The only thing I haven't tried is taking the laptop apart and cleaning it as I really don't know what I'm doing. I've had troubles in the past with the keys but these have always been fixed by updating the drivers or simply restarting the laptop. The fact that the entire keyboard suddenly doesn't work makes me think it's a technical problem because if it was a dirt problem I would have thought the breakdown would have been more gradual than the entire thing stopping working at once. The lights working and responding to what I do on screen (changing volume) is also surely a sign that it's not completely broken. Is there anything else I can try first before taking it apart? Thanks in advance 🙂
