Subject: Need Help with BIOS Password Reset on HP EliteBook 860 G6 (Out of Warranty)

Hi everyone,

I’m reaching out to see if anyone here has experience with resetting or removing a BIOS password on an HP EliteBook 830 G6. The laptop is out of warranty, and I’m locked out of the BIOS due to a password prompt that I don’t know.

I’ve tried the usual steps like resetting BIOS settings and updating the firmware, but the password still remains. 

If anyone knows about any reliable methods—whether it’s using HP’s SMC.bin tool, flashing the BIOS chip with a programmer, or other community-verified solutions—I’d really appreciate your guidance.

Hello.

 

Short answer is: you cannot clear the password. Removing batteries or such will not help. HP service partners nor HP itself can remove the password. Only solution is to replace the system board. HP Business PCs - Forgotten or lost BIOS password

 

Discussion of resetting the password on this forum is not allowed.. Some other BIOS forums may have solutions for flashing and removing the password but I can't point you to any of them.
