I am hoping someone can help me.
How do I find out the current market value of a 17.3” refurbished 17-BY0087CL and if this model is still available?
In June 2019 I purchased a refurbished one from Groupon for my daughter for $579.98 and purchased a 3-year warranty plan.
One hinge broke when opening and she was able to still use it carefully. When the second broke and a piece broke off on the bottom housing, I sent it to CPS Central for repair.
They are telling me that it is too expensive for them to repair and are offering a settlement of $255.00–much less than the $579.99 paid 2 years ago. They are basing it on a used 17-BY0088CL no longer available on eBay...and I feel that they are lowballing the settlement.
I have spent many hours already online trying to find the market value and if there are any available for sale and coming up empty-handed. I do not want to accept the settlement until I have done my homework.
I would appreciate any help from anyone who is willing, especially knowing that I probably will not find anything comparable if I accept that lowball settlement. My daughter wants another 17.3” touchscreen laptop, of course. Her laptop was in perfect working condition before the hinge problem and don’t know if indeed they cannot repair it or would return it to us. I have not been in touch with them since I received the settlement offer email on Monday.
Thank you.

Normally for a brand new machine, it value would drop 20% or more after opening the box. After 2 years, for a good condition machine, with luck you can get 45% to 55% its original price.
You can get brand new machine at Walmart for around $970.
Regards.
