My G3 has given me good service for many years, but has recently developed an issue with the keyboard. Both the touchpad and the keyboard work in BIOS, but as soon as Windows 7starts they stop working. I thought I'd start with the HP support assistant, but there's nothing there except some rudimentary functions. Then I thought of checking for a BIOS update, but lo and behold, there's not a single driver listed for my laptop at hp.support.drivers? Where did everything go?

I suggest you take another look because when I look under the W7 driver support section, there is a full list of drivers including a BIOS version 01.58.

Wow, you're right. Thank you!
When I open the link you provided on my new G9, I get the full list of all available resources. When I put the very same link into my old G3, I get a few how-to videos and nothing else, despite being logged in, despite seeing my G3 under "my devices". But when I set the operating system to W7 (hidden beneath a picture placeholder), it's all there.

You're very welcome.
Are you using Microsoft Edge for W7?
If not, I recommend you install it from the link below.
The support pages are designed to work with Microsoft Edge and if you were using W7 on your PC, with Edge it should have bought you directly to the W7 driver section.
If you were using your G9 with W11, then the support page will not bring you anywhere on the G3 because W11 was not installed on your G3.
That is where you have to manually select the drivers for the OS you want to install the drivers on.

No, the W7 computer doesn't have Edge, it has IE that I only used for whenever one (a single) webpage doesn't work on Chrome. I'm upgrade resistant, the older I get the more I find it challenging to get used to new layouts. Couldn't get past W11 though. Thanks!
