Older Zbook display is difficult to see

Hi I am a newbie. I have just gotten an older HP Zbook. Win10 pro intel i7 2.71. Driver is updated to latest version.  The display is very difficult to see.  I have found a suggestion and downloaded  Intel Graphics Command Center.. and looked for the option to disable "Local Adaptive Contrast Enhancement" but this option is not offered. Also played with options for high contrast and color settings but cannot find a way to improve. I am a bit vision challenged to begin so any help is appreciated.

There are a few posts re weak colours or pale contrast on later EliteBook models (and others).

 I have an older (smaller) HP notebook that looks much better than the newer, expensive models (are you listening HP?)

Anyhoo, after much fiddling, the tweaks for me that worked to improve the contrast, to the best extent they could are set out below.  Colour and contrast seem intrinsically linked. Not all machines have the following functionalities:

• In the Windows Search box at the bottom left of the screen, search for Display Colour Calibration and adjust to suit.  In Windows 11, curiously the facility to adjust contrast is not there !  (see the last tweak)

• Search Adjust ClearType text . Go through the steps and select the type of text design/crispness that you wish to see. 

• Go to Settings>System>Display>Adaptive Colour.  Switch Adaptive Colour to 'On'. Although not specifically a contrast setting , it made a positive change.

• Settings-Accessibility-Color filters. Click Color settings to 'on', and select the top option (Red-Green, green weak). Then I scrolled down to Intensity and Color Boost and pumped them way up.

• ***  BEST TWEAK ***  To adjust the contrast further (depending you have either Nvidia or AMD), go to your Desktop page and right click.  In my case (AMD), it gave me access to the AMD software.  Once the AMD software is open, it gives you a number of options at the top left of the page.  One of these is 'Display'.  On the right hand side of the Display page, there are a number of settings that you adjust by slider.  At the bottom right, disable Colour Deficiency Correction.  I know this sounds counter-intuitive.  After that, play with the sliders.  My screen is now a lot crisper!
